Résidence les Gentianes is only a few minutes from the shores of Lac d'Annecy. Built in 2003 in the alpine style, it was awarded 4 stars (based on sleeping 6). Its large balcony has an unobstructed view to the "village's mountain", Montagne du Charbon. Click to enlarge any of the photographs.

Accommodation on the first level includes a kitchen/living/dining area and the main bedroom, bathroom, toilet and laundry. Two staircases from the living area lead to a mezzanine double bedroom; and to bedroom 3 with bunk beds. A sofa-bed in the living area converts into a full-size double bed, therefore sleeping up to 8 in total. (A travel cot is available, on request). The kitchen is equipped to a high standard, and the large balcony with its view to Mt du Charbon is big enough for eating outdoors and sunbathing (there are two deck chairs). The television receives English-language satellite broadcasts including BBC and ITV digital channels, and there is a selection of DVDs for family viewing. There is a secure garage, and the ramp has underground heating to prevent icing in winter.

Résidence les Gentianes is available throughout the year. Rentals vary from week to week, particularly between May-September that is the peak season locally, and during school holidays throughout the year. Families wishing to ski at different ski stations on different days have stayed with us because we are fairly convenient for ski-stations nearby at Annecy and Faverges or further afield at Les Saisies, Courchevel, La Clusaz and even for Mt Blanc! Also, our rentals during the ski season are much less than in the resorts.

Bedlinen, towels and an after-stay clean are provided for a fee to cover costs. Electricity for hot water, cooking etc is included in summer rentals; a one-off weekly charge in winter helps to offset heating costs.

There's a summary about some of the things to do on the HOME page, and links to web sites at the end of the TRAVEL section (including the 26 panoramic 360 degree views of Annecy and around the lake). Two of the photos on this page show the beach at Doussard/Bout du Lac, and the Piste Cyclable - it's a dedicated cycle route that runs all the way from Annecy to the Haute Savoie/Savoie border near Ugine, passing close to Doussard. We have linked the WEATHER section to the local forecast, and to the web-cams around the lake.

In Annecy and around the lake you will be spoiled for choice with a wide variety of restaurants too numerous to mention (but some of them feature in the GALLERY)

What Others Have Said ...

Doug Sager wrote in the Sunday Times, about Annecy: "Visitors can row in boats below the spreading trees on the river; take a small train along the lake shore; meander beside the canals, menaced only by France's ubiquitous mime artists; or take a cruise on the lake to admire the fairytale turreted castles along the shore. Locals insist that the Palais de l'Isle, a boat-shaped stone fortification at the junction of two canals, is the most photographed building in France.

Manicured parks and the second-hand stalls in the street markets reward the pedestrian browser, and there are seven museums and four chateaux open to visitors - plus, for night owls, a casino. And when you've worked up a hunger, you can eat extremely well in Annecy. The lake has its own species of fish that the city's chefs prepare to perfection. At the end of your meal, try Roseaux de lac, an Annecy speciality: chocolate batons filled with liqueur."

We have received many compliments from visitors when returning the key, about Résidence les Gentianes and about the surrounding area. If you submit an enquiry, we'll include in our response a summary of what they have said.
